Those early years

From early childhood we develop behaviours and patterns of relating to the other people in our lives. These ways of relating, useful at that time, may not continue to be so as we age.

Whilst some of these behaviours will just no longer be required, others may be more harmful. They may be detrimental to current relationships, and continually prevent us from acheiving what we want.

And because they have become ingrained within us - a habit - we may find it hard to be, or think we can be, any different.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Through regular sessions with a psychotherapist, in a structured, safe and containing environment, you can become increasingly aware of how these behaviours and patterns from the past, impinge on the present.

Often such behaviours are observable in the here-and-now interactions with the therapist.

Increased awareness of them, understanding how and why they developed, enable us to ask whether they are still relevant. If not, can they be put aside? Can forward movement be different?
